Wow! What a busy two weeks in 2nd grade!  The students have been practicing routines and expectations as we create our community of learners.  I know how exhausting the first few weeks can be as we all adjust to the school-year routine.  Please make sure students are getting the recommended/required rest for their age group!

Thursday, September 7th   Pease Back to School Night 5:45 to 7:00

Parents will head to the classrooms at 5:50 for a brief overview of 2nd grade. We will give the same presentation at 6:20 if you have multiple classrooms to visit.  There will be a packet provided for parents, so if you are unable to attend, a packet will be sent home in the following Tuesday folder.  

Beginning of the Year conferences:

After Back to School night, we will begin scheduling beginning of the year conferences.  2nd grades conference time is from 10:30 to 11:15.  We are also available to meet after/before school during certain times of the week with prior arrangements.   Phone conferences are also an option.  Please email your child’s homeroom teacher if you are interested in setting up a meeting.

Homework

Homework will begin the week of September 11th.  Homework will be Monday thru Thursday.   For the 1st Nine weeks, we ask that students have a positive reading experience for at least 20 minutes.  The homework will start with a simple reading log that the student is expected to complete and sign.  Homework is to practice the independent and responsible habits that are so important as students move on to upper grades.
